Speculations On Government Reshuffle: Mr. President, Reshuffle? No? Who?

The rumor on the President’s plan to reshuffle his team spreads speculations and worries among the ministers. The circulating news says that President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono will soon take action to reshuffle his team due to weak performances. Coalitions urge the President to immediately implement this plan. The big question then is of course, who will be “dumped” out of his team?

Analysts have made their own predictions on who is going to be eliminated through this process. Ministers who show weak performances and no significant result during the second period of SBY’s ruling will be out of the team. Many put eyes on the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Darwin Zahedy Saleh, who shows declining progress in his work. Darwin comes from Demokrat Party which is none else, SBY’s own party but the party itself has reached its agreement that they are ok with Darwin out of the team if indeed he cannot contribute to the team.

“Democrat has 4 ministers inside the team. If they cannot contribute and be a burden to the team then it is fully President’s prerogative to fire,” said Vice General Secretary of Demokrat Party, Saan Mustopa. Other name is the Minister of Transportation, Freddy Numberi, this is due to his failure in implementing Zero Accident Program for land, sea and air transport, so is the public perceives. More names heard are Agung Laksono; the Minister of National Prosperity, Suharso Monoarfa; the Minister of Public Housing.

Everyone now is in agitation waiting for words from the President on who are going out and who are coming in. None of political parties’ representatives are invited to meet the President to discuss about this plan. Nevertheless, seems like everyone has known and anticipated this reshuffle which is predicted to be announced by October this year. Still, those are still rumors. The only certainty is to get President’s answer himself. So Mr. President, reshuffle? No? Who?
